Privacy

This website sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser and runs no analytics. The only personal data it handles is what you send us through the contact form.

Who is responsible

ColPort, in the Netherlands, which also runs Mill. The company is being registered; its name, Chamber of Commerce (KVK) number and address will be added here once it is. For anything about your data, write to hello@colport.io.

This statement covers the colport.io website. Each product has its own: Mill, Hall and Inn. The Commons game explains its own handling of data before you start playing.

Cookies and tracking

None. The website sets no cookies and writes nothing to your browser's storage. It has no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no embedded videos or social media. Its fonts and images are served from colport.io itself, so visiting a page does not contact Google or anyone else. Because of this there is no cookie banner. On the examples page, an example loads from Mill, Inn or the Commons game only when you press play; those services then handle the visit under their own privacy statements.

If we ever add visitor statistics, we will choose a tool that works without cookies, update this page first, and ask for your consent where the law requires it.

When you write to us

The contact form asks for your name, your email address, your organisation, what you are interested in, and your message. We use them only to answer you. The legal basis is that you asked us to respond (GDPR article 6(1)(b)).

The form sends your message to this website's server, which passes it straight on to our mailbox by email. Both are run by Hetzner Online in Germany, and the server keeps no copy. No other company handles your message.

We keep your message for as long as we are in contact and delete it 12 months after our last exchange, unless we go on to work together. You can also email us and skip the form.

Server logs

The website is hosted by Hetzner Online in Germany. Like any web server, it records each request (the page, the time, your IP address and browser type) to keep the site secure and working. These logs are kept for 14 days and are not used to identify or follow visitors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in a secure website (GDPR article 6(1)(f)).

The Commons library

The free library at commons.colport.io is covered by this statement too. It has no accounts and no sign-up. To show what you started and finished, it keeps a short list of the trainings and dates in your browser's local storage, on your device only. The emergency game at commons.colport.io/noodspel/ adds its own line to that list when you begin a scenario and when you finish one. The list is never sent to us or anyone else. The “Forget my progress” button at the bottom of every library page deletes it, as does clearing your browser's site data. Because this storage only provides what you asked for, it needs no consent banner. Videos and downloads come from commons.colport.io itself, with no third party. A course loads from Mill only when you press play. The game explains its own handling of data.

Your rights

You can ask to see the data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict or object to its use, and to receive it in a portable form. Write to hello@colport.io; we answer within one month. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Changes

When this statement changes, the date at the top changes with it. The terms for using the website are on the Terms page.
